Emily Hackenburg graduated with a baccalaureate in nursing from Binghamton University in 1998 and pursued a Masters in Science from the College of New Rochelle in 2006 when she became a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner.

While working with underserved communities in Harlem and the Bronx, she recognized that a purely conventional approach to medicine did not reach the deeper root causes of peoples struggles with chronic illness, mental health and addiction. In 2010 she completed her Yoga Teacher Training certificate and soon after created a program called, Movement is Medicine, integrating a BioPsychoSocial approach to her medical practice.

Through her own transformative experiences with psychedelic therapy, she followed her passion and pursued a specialty in psychedelic medicine. In 2021, she received a Certificate in Psychedelic Therapy through the California Institute of Integral Studies, completed a year long ketamine certification program with the Integrative Psychiatry Institute (IPI) and additional training through Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). In 2020, Emily took a clinical lead in opening Field Trip Health’s NYC office and was instrumental in creating protocols for their Ketamine Assisted Therapy practice.

Emily is collaborative and values a strong therapeutic relationship. Her approach is trauma informed and she draws from her experience with Integrative Medicine, Nutrition, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems and the Neuroscience of Trauma.
